Letterer Greg Deng is currently working on Lazurus’s Eye but should soon be able to move to Spook Town. There is no real hurry other than to finalize each book for it’s future Kickstarter, but it’s still nice to see each one move that one bit closer to completion.

We have one cover from the artist on the book, J. C. Grande. That cover is also in line to be completed; we are still locking in a final logo and such. I’d like to get one more cover done as well, it’s good to have more choices and people seem to like having a variant so long as they don’t get out of hand.

Here is a sample of the artwork for the book, which will be in black & white. This scene shows the protagonist, Abraham, looking for clues at a crime scene. Abraham is a vampire and a detective for the Raven’s Black City Police Force.

There is possibly more good news to announce soon as well. Writer David Thomas has been sending in outlines for a second and third issue of the series. So, I can be pretty sure we’ll be seeing more of Spook Town. Fingers Crossed.

Frankly, one of the prohibitive costs associated with making an independent comic book is the cost of coloring. It’s a bit like paying two artists, then paying twice yet again when printing, to some extent. Having the book in black & white means the chance for a successful Kickstarter are much, much higher and the fantastic artwork by Grande helps a ton as well.

More news to come!
